Service in Costa Rica

Hey, my name is Jamel McNeill, and I’m discussing my international volunteering trip. In the midst of this vast world we live in, I’ve always found myself going beyond the tight boundaries of my backyard. During college, my participation in an international organization helped me do so. Rotaract, which is connected to the International Rotary club, is a club at my school, the University of South Florida, that focuses on volunteering and community service. Their motto is “Service above self,” and they provide services anywhere from our local area to other countries. We usually plan for a once a year trip that allows us to volunteer in another place, and this time, our destination was Costa Rica.

I was quite excited to learn that I’d be going to such an interesting country. I’ve been out of the U.S. before (twice to Japan) so my experience in new places was not something that came to be difficult. I enjoy meeting new people and seeing new things, and adding an opportunity to give to a foreign community was thrilling to think about.

During my week-long trip, we stayed in the mountains of Alajuela, not too far from San Jose. Our mission was to build a playground in a nearby neighborhood to help support the community and give people a place to enjoy their environment in peace.

I have to say that building a playground in a week was one of the toughest things I’ve involved myself in, and I won’t go too much into details as to how tough it was. It was a slow but successful start. We dug into the ground to make the area flat, and moved rocks and glass to clean it. We scraped the brick walls and painted over them with colors and symbols of positive things like rainbows and flowers. We even helped clear an area so a jungle gym with swings could be put up. It was all coming together nicely with the help of my group, and even with the community around us.

Sometimes I think that all it takes is one match to start a fire, and I mean that in a good way. When we started fixing the playground spot, it was only a small group of us. The community watched us from a distance out of curiosity and were eager to see how this all would turn out. But like a fire of encouragement, we made them want to get involved and help us out in anyway possible. The family directly next to the site made us homemade lunch everyday, and threw a birthday party for our group member. And some of the locals helped us build the playground, sometimes even cleaning the site before we arrived in the morning!

For me, Rotaract has taught me to be aware, to give back, and most importantly work together. It’s very hard at times to imagine how people can come together and build something important, especially when you can all be from difference places. I value the chance to go to other countries and meet people with big or even bigger hearts than my own. The memories and accomplishments I had in Costa Rica made me a better person. I hope to continue to build more memories and inspire people to go beyond their boundaries as well.

Stay tuned

Time to say good bye. Do something before you regret

As long as you live, there is always a time you can not avoid.

Time to say goodbye.

It is always hard to say goodbye to your lover, friends, and family, no matter whatever the situation is.

You look back the times you had great fun with them, feeling sorry for yourself having not seen them more than you should have. However the time to depart is gradually, but steadily coming as time progresses against your wish.

You regret looking back the time you did and said something to them, which might have hurt their feelings.

You kick yourself for all the things you could have done for those who cared about you, and those you care about, but you did not.

Such a life.

Tired of regretting.

Tired of being sorry.

You get misty-eyed.

You might have cried over them for a night.

You wish that time would stop for good.

You wish that you shouldn’t have met them in the first place.

However, it is time for you to get up your nerve and say goodbye to your peers.

The past can not be changed.

If there is still time, say “Thank you” to every last one of people who took care of you, who loved you, who had a great time with you,  and who will miss you.

My experience of Goodbye

My life is full of regrets. I do still remember the first day I felt so bittersweet and cried so hard wishing I would not have to break away from my beloved friends.

It was 14 years ago that I was 7 years-old and I had to move out of city I lived in for 3 years. Since my father had been working at a certain life insurance company that sent him around all across the country, I already had experiences of moving from one place to another, but I had never stayed at one place for so long.  Within 3 years, I went to a kindergarten for 2 years and elementary school for a year, which was enough time for me to make friends to hang out with and trust , and enough time to fall in love with a girl. On the last day, I walked around the park I had used to go to and played with my friends in vein. I met up with a girl there I had crushed on for the first time. I told her that I had to move out of the city, and I liked her so much. Now that I think about it,  it was a unique situation for a 7 year-old kid to step up to the plate and say “I like you so much” like a grown up man. She started sobbing, telling me that she also liked me. My heart jumped up in the sky like a space shuttle lunched into space, but at the same time, I had to face the reality that I could not see her anymore. It was a bitter pill to swallow. I also met a boy who I had used to hang out with a lot. He gave me a Pokemon Card shinning in the sun light, which is the card he had been proud of having because of its rarity. I would have never imagined that he was going to give that to me. He told me,

This card will keep us together

He and she ran as long as they could after our car when we left the city. It was the first time that I had ever kicked myself at the fact that I did not hang out with them more often.

By the time I started to fit into a new school, there was another moving-out after staying for only 7 months in the school. I thought I was totally fine with it, and decided not to cry again, but it was still difficult for an 8 year-old kid.  A lot of my friends gathered and signed their names and addresses on a little book, which I still have in my house. There was a girl who wrote,

“I liked you since the day I met you, good bye”

As far as it went, she would always drop by my house a lot for whatever the reason she had, and that made me think that she might like me, but at the end of the day, I could not confess my feelings to her. Regret!!

I had a chance out of the blue to talk with her later when I was 20 years old. She told me that I held her hands always when she asked me to do so, and put her hands in my pockets to warm them up when it was cold.

When I moved out to another new place which I have lived in for almost 13 years , I had already gotten used to saying goodbye and moving on, unlike any other kids around me at that time. As a matter of fact, that was my 5th time of moving-out. I graduated from an elementary school and junior high school.

If I had to mention the most bitter goodbye I had during that period of time, I would have to say that it was the time I had to leave soccer club that I had been a part of for 3 years. For 3 years, my teammates and I had been together. We went through all the emotions you can think of: an emotion out of losing the game, winning the game, being scolded by a coach and social tension among members.

We were competing against other teams in a tournament we had for the last time in which winning games was the only way to continue our existence. We lost a game. After the game, some members were upset, and some were crying. I did not cry, but after getting back to my place, all the emotion I held back started busting out of my mouth. Just the thought of not being able to play soccer with them made me hopeless and miserable.

It came to my life all of a sudden that I got qualified to study abroad in Texas for a year when I was 16 years old. I flew to the U.S. in the hopes of learning English.

Do you know the things that make you cry when you have to say goodbye to people? As far as I know, there are two possibilities. The first possibility is simply because  you are sad at the fact that you have to leave and can not see your friends anymore unlike you used to. The other possibility is because you have to leave and you can not come back to the place you were totally accustomed to.

By the time I had to leave the U.S., I was absolutely done with goodbyes, but instead I was sad for leaving a place I was so familiar with. I went to the field on the last day of school, where I had used to practice soccer for school with teammates everyday after school. I cried a little.

I am not saying that I did not feel sad at the fact I had to leave everyone I met there behind, but simply I had already gotten used to it. And since I had already gotten used to it and learned lessons not to regret later on like I had a lot of times, I was not kicking myself about anything relating to relationships with people. I had a good time with them, and did everything I could do for them and myself.

And now here I am in Florida, about to leave for Japan.

To be honest, I do not regret anything since I did everything I could do for those people who have been taking care of and loving me so much. I hung out with everyone I listed up from the last time here in the U.S.

I tried to be honest to everyone and I was. When I promised something to someone, I kept promises except for the time I totally forgot since I was really on the go. I did not promise something I knew that I could not keep. I was a honest person I had ever been.

There was a time when I truly felt regret.

It is a time that I went back on a promise with others, and left their lives.

I feel fully satisfied now.

No regret.

My heart is as clear as a blue sky.

Ready to say goodbye.

I would like to say “Thank you” to those who always gave me a ride when I was in need, those who gave me time to enjoy moments together, to those who helped me with my studying when I was in need, and to those who gave me time in which I could relax and put myself at a distance from all the messes I was in.

Thank you all.

As I mentioned, time to say goodbye is always lurking around the Conner for whatever the reason is. It could be the death of your friends and family, the end of school or your company, and etc.

It always gives you a bitter feeling and might make you cry and kick yourself. All the “Should-have-done” thoughts comes into your mind at the same time.

I announced that I have already gotten used to it, but the truth is that it is still hard to say goodbye and leave with all the memories and times I shared.

Since I have been through all kinds of goodbyes, there is a friendly piece of advice that I can give you all:

Do not do something you might regret later. At every moment you meet someone (friend, family, etc), do not take them for granted, and try to care about them as much as you can no matter how bad the situation you are in is

Think positive about your life especially in the time of trouble.

His country is in an emergency situation, which I have never been through and might never be: War. After discussing this with him and hearing how bad he thinks of his people’s livlihoods in his country, I reflected it back on my country, Japan. Japan has the highest rate of suicide among all the developed nations, and ranked in 9th in all the countries on earth.

Life: we have to appreciate it but for the most part we are taking for granted.

People kill themselves for verity reasons. According to KevinMD.comthere are main 6 reasons why people kill themselves

This is the most unquestionable reason why people kill themselves. The depression might come from peer pressures, financial issues, etc. When people have negative thoughts in their minds, they tend to think about it deeper than thinking about positive thoughts, which eventually causes them to harm themselves or take their own lives. Some might say that those who kill themselves are cowardly and weak, and that they should tough it out. They might be right. However, whatever the reason the depression comes from, people are different individually in how they perceive the problems they have. You really have to put yourself into their shoes before saying stuff like that. I have been depressed from time to time, and it is a normal thing, nothing special, to get depressed as a human being because we are capable of “thinking” unlike any other animals. The thought of committing suicide has never come across my mind before, but I had moments that I just want to vanish from this world because of all the issues I had, which  seems not to be solved.

2. Psychotic

Those who are Psychotic, like depression, may harm themselves, and on top of that is they have high susceptibility to their own inner voice. When they start thinking that they do not like themselves, they are not accepted by anyone and so forth, they will stick to the thought not matter what other people tell them. Speaking of myself, I partially belong to this category for better or worse. Because of this psychotic tendency, I look in on myself continuously, and once I find some defects in myself, I keep telling myself that I am not good AT ALL, but at the same time, I release all the negative thoughts by talking, sharing and setting goals high, desiring to archive the goals to change my weakness into strength.

3. Impulsiveness

There are types of people who kill themselves impulsively, which is often related to use of drugs and alcohol. When their brain gets malfunctioned, they become not to be able to think rationally. One thought just triggers and snaps their inner desire of  death into reality, just like you buy a candy bar when you see it on the shelf next to a resister while standing in a line. There is no time for them to think about their lives, about their family, friends or lovers, and most importantly, about the consequences caused by killing themselves. I used to drink alcohol, but not anymore since I realized that drinking simply made me do things I usually didn’t and thought less of what I did, like “Anything is possible!”. I always tell people

You should not drink when you are in a total mess, you should drink when you are fully satisfied with yourself

 4. No source for help

People are calling out for help in hopeless times. It is crucial if you can find someone to help you out when you are in need. People can not live without people. We always support each other even if you realize it or not. It is just human nature. Think about the world without people but yourself where there is no one to talk, love, hang out, drink, and work for. Whatever you do just turns into meaningless stuff, and you might say to yourself, “Why am I doing this? What am I doing this for?”. Whenever I have a trouble, I try to solve it by myself first, but eventually I ask someone for help to get the thing done. Even those people who you think are tough are not tough to some extent; they also can’t live without people around them. So having someone you can rely on is always primal in your life. Do not push yourself too hard, people are always there for you. Don’t be shamed when you ask someone for help because that is what they are there for. The help could be little chat to release your stress, could be condolence to take care of yourself mentally, or could be hanging out to enjoy the moment away from all the mess you are currently in. Relying on someone is not a weakness. This strikes those who do not have people to help them, as the most beautiful thing they really want badly, so keep in touch with people always ,and appreciate the fact that you have people to assist you in the time of trouble.

5. Philosophical desire to die

Some people make up their minds to die because of a terminal illness. This has been the bone of contention for many years. Some say it is against nature, and we have to live as long as possible. Well, who knows what is good and bad for them? If I had cancer and was told I would live no longer than a month, and I could not even breath by myself. I might choose to die.

6. Mistakes they have made

This became the recent phenomenon for younger generations. According to the writer of, he/she analyzed it and concluded that the only way to help them out is thorough education.

A thing that these reasons share in common, except for number 3 and 5.

There is a thing you can not ignore when it comes to theses causes, and that is “Thinking too  negatively “.

To me, the only way out to live in the future without sacrificing one’s life is to stop thinking about all the messes and troubles one has.  I know for sure that everyone has their own problems, and when it goes too far, that is the time they decide to commit suicide. You can’t see any other options left in your life. It seems to be meaningless living in this world, to you.  And it is true.

When that time comes, why don’t you step back from the edge of a cliff, and start thinking about your situation positively and be optimistic about your life.

This is an example based on my experience.

I was struggling with looking for a job. I was thinking about my weaknesses instead of strengths.

“What if I got rejected because of my weakness? What if I can not overcome these problems because of my weakness? I need to get this job no matter what it takes.”

I had been telling myself that over and over again, but at the end of the day, I could not land the job.

I felt like crap and I was exhausted since I did everything I could do to manage to get a job. I felt that I was not useful  or meaningful to this world. Of course I got depressed, but there was a guy who always listened to me and reached his hand to me, no matter how bad the situations were. He always told me stories the most suitable to my situations. Along with him, I was fortunate enough to meet with a lot of wise people. And I was able to think about my life positively, really positively.  After being rejected, getting done with thinking, I had a great opportunity I would  have never thought would fall into my lap. I reflected back on the time I was rejected, and started thinking “Because of the failure and the time of trouble, I decided to do another thing and did it, and now I have this in my life!” I literally thanked all the people and things caused rough patches to me, which eventually led to the good thing.

You never know what is going to happen to you later in your life. It doesn’t matter if you feel miserable now, something will come to you later which you will be thankful to. You have to be positive especially in those time when you are miserable.

As I said I met a lot of people in their 40s-60s with diverse experiences. They knew a lot more about life than I did. Some of words they told me were impressive enough to shape my way of thinking now.

Here is the list of impressive words they said to me.

Give yourself time to be alone and look at your strength instead of weakness. You are the best Japanese man I ever known and you are wise and smart. There are a lot of things you can do, but you are focusing on one thing you can’t do, and it seems that you are  trying to destroy yourself

“Even if the time now is giving you a huge headache, there will be a time you can enjoy in the future and you will look back at the time you were struggling, and you will be able to laugh it off! You have to think about everything in long run!”

“When you are completely exhausted and destroyed, everything seems so meaningless and you feel empty in yourself, but as long as you live, there is always something in your way , which might change your life. “

“Act alive when you are alive”

“Don’t pull yourself too hard all the time. Even if you can not get something you want, just think positively about it. Things you want will come to you at the right time and place in your life, it is all about timing, just like your friends. Your friend did not come in your life just because you wished and tried, but  they came to you because it was the right time and place, and you enjoyed it in fact. The life is unique and full of unexpected events, nobody can guess. So don’t think about “now” too much”

“Human beings are really sensitive and susceptible to their own inner voices. It affects you for better or worse. So think positively. Human beings also have power to affect their thought into a real world. If you are positive, then positive thing will happen to you.”

“If you think you are at your lowest, then it is good, because you won’t get any lower than that”

“You will find something for you as long as you are alive”

For those people who are stuck in negative thoughts about your life, this video might help you find an answer. I watched 9 months ago and gave me a good opportunity to think about my life and step what I have to take when the time of trouble gets in my way.

This man is a professor at the Harvard Business School.

He says “Be a the best quitter” It is the best way to live your moment.

Over 27 nations! We are expanding rapidly and steadily!

Let us begin with some fun:

Once upon a time, God was actually conquering the world.

Once upon a time, the Roman Empire was about to conquer the world,

Once upon a time, the Mongolians were about to conquer the world,

Once upon a time, The U.K. was about to conquer the world,

Once upon a time, the Japanese army was about to conquer Asia,

Once upon a time, the United State (Benjamin) was about to conquer the world,

Once upon a time, the German army was about to conquer Europe,

but all of them failed to do so except for God.

Because they were not fully supported by everyone on earth.

Do not let the stain make you lose your edge in the time of trouble

It has been a rough patch for me. There has been a lot to think and worry about, which put me down into disappointment every now and then. Life is not that easy as everybody knows. You don’t get what you want even though you really wish so. You forget about all the journeys you had to get to the point where you are now, and just focus on a problem you have. This is exactly what I felt 2 days a go until I met this two guys who were 32 and 38 years old from Africa.

A guy, 38 years old, told me to do everything I want to do when I can do it. In fact, I am still young and a man of full of capability. This “Do what you want to do while you can” is the most common phrase you hear from almost every person who is in their 30s and 40s.

Since I had this confused mind, it was good to hear from a 38 year old man that I should do what I would like to do without hesitation before I realize it is too late.

As I mentioned, when I talk to people who are older than I am, without exception, they always tell me that I must follow my heart, it is better to give it a shot rather than wondering and thinking about “What if”. You never know what is going to happen to you because of the actions you take. It might end up making you feel sad or great. However, if you just hesitate to take an action wondering if you should do, and stay where you are, the chances are that nothing will change AT ALL. I am telling you that most grown up men are now kicking themselves because of choices they could have made but they did not because of the fear of whatever they had in them.

It could not be any better time for you to act on what old dogs say, now.

You don’t want to be the same.

A chance will come to those who go for the chance.

Forget about the fear you have, just go for it.

Now let’s get to the main point. After talking to this 38 years old man, my mind were all cleared up like the sky without clouds! However, I still had one track mind. I was doubting  my ability, asking myself if I could get over this rough patch I had, even thought I had been telling myself I could on account of the experiences I had before. It has been almost a month since I came across this tough situation which I never had before. I focused on one bad thing about me, and almost was losing myself despite all the success I had before.

A man, 31 years old from Libya, told me a story about the stain.

The story goes like this: you are wearing white pants, and one day you drink a cup of coffee, and spit it over your pants which remains in the pants as a stain. You start thinking that the pants are no longer beautiful because of the satin despite the parts of the pants which are still white and beautiful. Just like this, human beings tend to forces on something bad even though they have done so many things successfully, even though there are so many things they can do, but just because of one thing which they are not good at or they can not, they start badmouthing, underestimating, running down themselves psychologically, which creates a bad circulation of how they think of  themselves. What he told me was

Of course there are things you can not do because you are not invincible ,and you will never be, but in the same breath, there are more things you are good at. Don’t focus on the satin, focus on the white part in the time of trouble

It reached to my heart and I was so touched. He is the man of wisdom.

He also gave me an example for the stain.

Let’s say, you have a best friend who you have been keeping touch with for many years, but one time, she/he tells you that “Don’t talk to me , just stay away”, and you get upset and insult him/her, forgetting all the journey that you have been through with him/her. Just because of the little tiny stain, you destroy your friendship with him/her.

We, human beings, tend to look at a shadow side and expand it , and make a big deal out of it more than we should, but when it comes to a bright side , we think a light of it even thought we have more upsides than downsides in ourselves.

Thus, whenever you find yourself in the situation where you are struggling with whatever it is, do not think about the stain, but think about the white part, always.

Don’t let the satin make you lose your confidence and disturb your path.

How do you write your resume? Time to know the how-to

I need to find a job

A Russian lady, 33 years-old teaching at School, said to me in the state of disappointment. She is currently looking for a job in the United State. I thought she was fine as long as she had a job now unlike me. She said that she was not appreciating  her teaching, and she would like to do something she is really passionated about, but has been stuck in teaching industry. After 5 minutes silence, I asked her “Why don’t you start applying to those companies which are doing something you are passionated about?”.

She said in reply “I do not know how and I am afraid of not being able to get a job I want”

There you go, I have been hearing these phrases almost everyday from many people including myself , ” I don’t know how”. Of course, most of us do not know exactly how and what is the best way, and I know when you make a move to change something from what you are currently doing, it always takes time and cost which is totally inevitable for most of us unless you have strings to pull. If you are just an average person who has been spending your life, following crowds without a strong discipline in yourself, hate to break it to you but, it is not easy to find a job. However once you start changing yourself, making a move, getting up your heavy back from the chair,  chances are that you will be likely to find a job.

After long idle conversation, she said ” Alright, I will search for companies, but how am I supposed to write a resume? It has been a long time since I wrote one last time”.

This question turned me on ,and I started to belabor on how to write a resume.

#reddeerinternational #international #multicultural #globalsociety #culture #economy #politics #history #travel #career #entertainment #education #blog #religion #lifestyle #america #latinamerica #europe #africa #asia #pacific #middleeast #fumiyaakashika #bobucal #How to write a resume

I know it is hard to think about yourself in objective view. For most times, you miss something you are supposed to add in your resume such as your skills, experiences, and so on. However when you talk to your friends, teachers, and all the people around you, they tell you something positive about you and something you did not realize before ,which will give you confidence, and you start thinking positively about yourself. Having confidence in yourself is one of important elements not only when you have interviews , but also when you write resumes and cover letters.

This is what it takes to complete your resume and get a job

  1. Tell yourself that you can make a change
  2. List up all the things you would like to do and you can do
  3. Talk to somebody who knows about you well, and look over the list you make together
  4. Find a job on the internet
  5. Find someone who knows how to Write a resume and cover letter
  6. Submit it
  7. wait and knock on wood
  8. If you land a interview, keep carrying yourself with confidence. If you do not, still Keep carrying yourself with confidence and start from No.3. again for another job opening

1 Tell yourself that you can make a change

It is important to think that you are capable of changing yourself and situations you are currently in. Most of people doubt their capabilities, and just stay safe watching others ,standing on the side line. Think about those people who has been a force to reckon with in the world such as Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. What did they do? They stop going to college and began to do something by themselves.

Hey, they and I are totally different beings anyway, they had an ability and were wise and smart to do so , thus they did, but I am just another person, How am I supposed to compare with them?

Yes, you are right at the fact that they are off the chart, but what I would like to point out is not that they dropped out of college , but they made a move instead of staying in the same circulation. I am not saying that you have to get out of college immediately and initiate something new by yourself. As a matter of fact, that is risky and you don’t want to put yourself on the line. However, I am saying that making a move and change will always lead you up to something new. I admit that it is always hard to make a change since you will loose something because of your choice you make, but at the same time, you will gain something new  without exceptions as long as you stick to your vision.

“But what if I can’t get what I want in the end? I can not take the risk, bro”

Hold on, take a chill pill. You are not even writing your resume yet, so don’t run yourself down but hope up in the first place! just Imagine yourself working at your dream company.

Once you tell yourself that you can make a change, time to move on the next stage!

By the way, I am a buddhist and I always do meditate to clear out my mind to enlighten, and it really works! It is always important to get rid of all the negative feelings you have in your mind when you make a change, why don’t you try to meditate?

This link will tell you how to meditate

2. list up all the things you would like to do and you actually can do

This is critical step before writing a resume or start looking for jobs available on the internet. Analyzing and Knowing yourself boosts your confidence and chance to get a job. First off, you should name everything you would like to do to understand your desires, and then list up all the things you are actually able to do at this moment. It is important to follow this steps :”First, things you would like to do, then things you really can do”

If you list up things you can do first, it eliminate possibilities you might encounter if you listed up things you would like to do first. After you finish writing the list, now it is time to make a list of things you can do. And then Compare both lists.

When you find something goes together from each lists, it is time to make a move to another step

3. Talk to somebody who knows about you well

“Ok, Now that I know myself well, I will look up the jobs!”

Hang on!! Do not make the move so quick , my friend.

You might want to ask somebody to look over your lists first rather than divining into head first. As i mentioned already, We don’t know mush about ourselves unless you are Buddha or God. Look back in time when you were surprised because your friend pointed out your habits you didn’t realize before until they mentioned them. This happens to everyone even to 60 years old people who seems to know about themselves well.

For instance, 2 weeks ago, I was at this college smoking a cigarette as this man came up to me and said  “hi”. We started just another conversation as I always do, and he brought up a story. The story goes like this; When he went fishing over a weekend which has been the only relaxing time away from his work, he met this woman with blond hair at around her age of 50th. She was struggling with catching fishes. Thus he just told her how to and what it took to get a fish ,which he does always when he sees someone having a difficult time fishing. After all the things, she said thank you and told him to be a chief of fishing club she involved in. According to her, he was the best fisher she had ever met in her life. He rejected the offer since he really wants to do it as a just hobby.

He told me that he never knew that his fishing skill was that high enough to admire others since he has been doing it for so long just as a hobby.

My points are that you don’t know about yourself fully until you are told so , and age doesn’t matter about this.

After you are done with your lists, have someone talk about your lists and yourself. Upside of having someone is not only finding something you are missing, but also that it might encourage you through conversation with them.

Now that you have found something you missed to know about yourself , it is time for you to look for a job!!

4. Find a job on the internet

Thanks to the technology we have now, Any information can be found at your house with your fingers.

Type the words relevant to your interests ,and put the word of Job at the end or vise verse. You will see a searching result , and if you are lucky enough, you might find a perfect job for you in the result. If you can’t find any, maybe it is better for you to sigh up some job hunting web sits such as “Monster” and “CFN” and etc. That makes you find a job easily ,and on top of that, company might send you a scout message!!

Other than the website, you might want to try social network sites such as “Linkedin”. This is a professional social network, you can upload your resume, and when someone looks at your resume and thinks that you the perfect candidate, then they will make a move on you!

I am 100% sure that sometime you can not find a job not just because you are not confidence enough nor motivated, but simply because the qualification for a job you found is not much up to your skills and experiences you have. However, I would like to say this to those in that situation.

“just send a resume”

You won’t lose anything even if you can not get the job. Good parts of sending a resume anyway are that you can cross out possibilities you have by literally receiving the reply by the company if they say “no”, and you can get rid of all the negative thought of “What if” from your head at the same time, which enables you to focus on another stuff. Another part of this is that you might  get a job! Who knows what is going to happen to us? God only knows! What you have got to do is just keep making moves until you die!

5. Find someone who knows how to write a resume and cover letter

Laughing young guy enjoying a conversation over the cellphone

The time finally comes. It is time for you to write a resume. Are you getting little bit nervous? Don’t be nervous, you should still hope up and be confidence! if you are turing to be negative person, the resume will not be positive enough to land a job because your negative though affects to it! So be brave and love yourself!!

Alright, but, the thing is unless you graduated college with English degree, your writing is not that strong enough to compete with other candidates. To make your resume shining and competitive, you need someone to revise it. It doesn’t matter how confidence you are on account of your experiences and skills, if you are not a good writer, your odd to get a job will decrease unfortunately. Notwithstanding, you will be fine since you now know that you need someone to look at your resume.

Alright, but Who?

Here is the list of people you can ask for a revision

  1. Councilors or advisors at your college
  2. Your friend working at Media or something relating to the line of work
  3. Your Mom and Dad
  4. Someone who knows how to and you know he/she really does

These are the people I can think of now off the top of my head , that you can ask for it.

If it is possible, you should write a resume with them instead of working on it by yourself. By doing so, you can enrich your resume through a conversation you will be likely to have with them. AS for a cover letter, you can do exact the same thing you do with your resume such as having someone to take a look at it.

6. Submit it

Now that everything is all set, it couldn’t be better time for you to send it to a company! Most companies nowadays have their own websites which provides all the information about recruitment. I am sure that it tells you exactly what to do to send your resume and cover letter! If it says  “send us via e-mail”, then you send your resume via e-mail ,and don’t forget about sending your cover letter also!

7. Waite and knock on wood

Yes, I know you are nervous about the result, but as I mentioned, you won’t lose anything even if the result is not what you are looking froward to.

While waiting, there are always things you can do for your self. Here is the things you should do.

  • Don’t spend time thinking about the result

Since what is done is done, there is no way for you to change the result once you send them to the company. Stop thinking about it. You don’t have to think about the things you can not change anymore, it is just time consuming and bad for your health also. Think about the time that your boyfriend or girlfriend dumped you. Were you able to fix the relationship? Well, If you were born under the lucky star, then you could, but I assume that unless you were a sophisticated psychic,  most of you were not able to fix it. It is just a simple fact of life. You can not change their minds no matter how hard you think about them!  Anyways , you should stop worrying about the result!  It is beyond your control!!

  • Working on another resume

While waiting, you have better thing to do: working on another resume! Yeah, definitely it is good to separate your eggs into several bowls.

  • Do something you like to do to wile away the time

Unless otherwise required to think about the result by the company, which they don’t for the most case, you should do something fun for yourself, no need to be stressed out!

7. Never stop being confident in yourself

Yes, most of times in your life, you can’t get what you want, and that is a simple fact of life as well, just like you can not get every boys and girls you like. What you can do in case you could not get response you wanted to hear is just carry on. It is not the end of the world nor end of your life. It is just the beginning of new story of your life. If you stop being confident in your self, all the things you have done will end up in smoke.

Here is a proverb for those who could not land an interview

When the going get tough, the though get going

Be tough!

The time of disappointment comes not to stay but to pass, even if you can not get what you want, it always leads you up to another oppotunity!!

Hope this article help you out with your resume. I really wish you could get  a job you want ! It doesn’t matter where you are, as long as you are human beings dealing with another human on earth, this way always helps you out!!

Hello everyone, my name is Nobuko Takahashi. I have stayed in China before I turned to 8. I think I am a Chinese, but I spend almost my life in Japan. I prefer to spending my vacation in China, because the atmosphere let me feel I am a human. Nowadays, China became an Economic power. China has long history and recently developed its economy very much. I will introduce about this “high speed” developing country, China.

Let’s start with the fundamental information of China.
Population: 1370536875 (2010, China has the world’s largest population. China is a multiracial nation, the country consists of 92% Han race and 55 minority race. The minority race often lives near the high mountain and the plateau area. For instance,

“Tibet”, this race locates in west China, and the Tibet plateau is the main area. Tibetan has their own official language “Tibetan”. Tibetan believes in the Dalai Lama, and in 1950 Chinese government captured Lhasa. Some Tibetan tried to fight with the Chinese government, and this conflict is still going on now.

“People’s Republic of China” is the official name of China.

China is the Communism country, the Chinese Communist Party. Recent China starts with “Mao Zhedong”. Mao Zhedong made the basic way of Chinese Communism. The policy was that “Free economic system, but still continue China’s dictatorial single-party political system run by Communist party of China”. In 1989, many young people gathered in “Tainanmen” to against this sigle-party political system and other unfair occurrences. The single-party political system is still working in China.

The corruption in Chinese government was always a serious problem. However, the new president Xi Jinping attached a great deal of importance to solve this problem. Recently, the corruptions reduced in China. This is also one of the reasons of “high speed” development of China.

The natural scenery in China: China has a lot of the awesome place to visit. I will introduce some of the best places.

  1. The paradise of human “Jiuzhaigou”(九寨溝)

Jiuzhaigou locates in Sichuan province, a part of the Min Mountains on the edge of the Tibetan Plateau and stretches over 72,000 hectares. Jiuzhaigou Valley was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1992 and a World Biosphere Reserve in 1997.

The clear water in the river and the primeval forest can give you a fresh feeling and relax time. There are some problems also exist in the Chinese natural scenery. Chinese will not protect their important nature, and the pollution is developing because of the high speed economy development. Hope Chinese can realize the importance.

  1. Changbai Mountain (長白山)

Changbai Mountain locates in Kitsurin province. This is a stratovolcano, and the last explosion was in 1903. On the top of the mountain, there is a beautiful lake. (天池) The average of depth is 213m, and 12-14 km long. The Changbai mountain carrot is a famous product. On the top of mountain, there is always cover with snow. The natural view in there is amazing. Kitsurin province is also my home town.

At last, China is an amazing and interesting country. China has about 3000 year history, and the changing of every era concludes many occurrences. The high speed development in China will influence this world. The disparity of wealth is still a serious problem in China. If you have interesting in China, let’s talk about it. I am looking forward to seeing the step up of China.

Hey everyone! My name is Hrvoje Kurtović and I am Croatian. Some one of you may have never heard about my country and it´s probably hard for you to imagine where it is located. But that´s the reason why I want to represent my country on reddeerinternational.

Location & Geography

Croatia?! What does it sound like?: Russian, something in South America or even an island? That are all good suggestions but they are totally wrong. Croatia is located in South Eastern Europe on the Balcanian peninsula next to Serbia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Hungary, Slovenia, Montenegro, Macedonia and on the other side of the sea to Italy. As you can see, Croatia has a lot of neighbours because of its long history. I mentioned the sea which is called the “Adriatic sea” (in Croatian: Jadransko more). It is a part of the Middle sea in the Southern part of Europe. We are a very small country even in Europe. Some people say our country looks like a bird beacuse of its outline. Our size is nearly the one of West Virginia that is still a small state in the U.S. That leads that our population is only about 4.4 million. Even though we are pretty small, we have a variety of landscapes. Our coast was awarded as the most beautiful in Europe with its over 1000 islands. You have to imagine 1000 islands in such a small country!!! Next to the coast are unpopulated hills and mountains so that there is an unbelievable landscape. The north and the east around the capitol Zagreb, which is also called Agram, are full with rivers and flat landscapes. If you visit Croatia one time in your life, you are going to see this awesome landscapes and the clear sea that you can´t find in another place on Earth. Besides Zagreb, where 25 % of all Croatians live, Split, Rijeka and Osijek are the biggest cities. These cities are not so big so that there is only one McDonald’s in each city.

   Geography of Croatia                                      baska-voda

Croatia is the 3rd eldest Republic in Europe…even older than Germany or France. This leads to a long history that I won´t tell in detail since this should make Croatia palatabile for you . First of all, Croatia was a part of many other states or republics. The most important one was the Socialistic Federative Republic of Yugoslavia where the “Tito Communism” was governing. Tito was the Yugoslavian marshall who died in 1980. After that, Croatia was trying to enforce sovereignity. That finally had happened in 1991 but a war against Serbia followed after this declaration. After that war, the whole Yugoslavian concept of brotherhood and unity was falling apart and Croatia got all the neighbours I  already mentioned (except Hungary). Now, 20 years after the end of the war we are a peaceful, democratic country which is part of the NATO and the European Union for 1 year now. The politics isn´t working like in other EU countries so that there is still a lot of corruption in comperation to other Western states. That leads that we still have our own currency which is called

“Kuna” (engl. marten; 1 HRK=100 lipa= 0,13 €). Our anthem is written in a small way on the money.                               sabor

kuna - currency of croatia

We are sports-mad, really really sports-mad. Everybody is doing some kind of sports. The most popular are soccer, handball and water polo. I am playing water polo also because Croatia was the world-champion and won the Olympic gold medal in the last 5 years. The biggest soccer achievement was the 3rd place at the world cup 1998 in France. Through this tournament, we gained a lot attention from the world also because we were  a sovereign country just for 6 years. We love our country and we show this at sport events. Maybe we show our love too much with the help of pyrotechnique so that we have to pay a lot of fines for our misbehaviour. But it´s not misbehaviour for us, it´s our way to show our emotions and that´s the point where I want to introduce our

Croatian fans

Each European country has its own philosophy and type of character. We Croatians are a loud, emotional and direct folk. If you watch the World-Cup opening game where we are going to play against Brasil you will hear our fans and see the temperament in our soccer game. You will also hear our anthem there, which has the title “Lijepa naša domovino” (Our beautiful homeland). I post the first verse so that you can get an imagination how does it sound like

 Our beautiful homeland,

O so fearless and gracious.

Our fathers’ ancient glory,

May you be blessed forever.

Maybe that´s another paragraph but for me it´s still a part of temperament: Religion. It follows us our whole life. 90 % of all people who are living in Croatia, and these are not only Croatians are roman-catholic. That´s a high percentage. That´s the point why I see religion also as a part of our lifestyle. Even though we´re not living the way our priest tells us, we have other way of religion and we live it. In the poor regions, especially in the south, are even a higher percentage of religios people than in the cities. Little villages come together in the church and people meet there to talk about the last week. But as I mentioned, that´s only in the less populated parts of Croatia. The others are living largely a typical European life.

Other people´s reaction about my origin

When I came for my study abroad term to the United States, I wasn´t sure if someone knew where or even what Croatia is. After I had arrived, my suggestions became true: Nobody who came outside from Europe had heard something about my country. So I explained them my country in the same way I am doing it right now in this blog. The people were amused to hear about such a (for them) “exotic” country so that I could make a lot of friends only because they wanted to learn something about Croatians and their lifestyle. In Germany, where I am living, people react normal to Croatians since Germany is one of the top list countries which have a high number of immigrants. So, we Croatians and other foreigners are part of the present multiculutral lifestyle in Germany.

Civil conflict broke out again in Libya

I know most of you have heard of the situation in Libya many times through the media, but can you really trust those things people are saying on TV? Have you heard anything about it straight from the horse’s mouth? If you have not, this article will be for you.

I happened to talk to a guy from Libya, a 34 year old studying education in the U.S.,  2 days ago. He was a really intelligent man and a man of compassion. He was kind and thoughtful enough to speak about the condition and situation going on in his home country which most people from his country are afraid of dealing with talking about with others in the fear of being killed once they get back to their country, Libya.

The conversation started with a simple question I asked him: “How is everything going on back in your country?” He did not open his mouth for a moment, seeming to hesitate a little before say something he had in his mind about his country.

10 minutes had passed and he started talking about issues and problems Libyan people are facing at this moment. He said:

Libya is now in a total mess, 3 years ago in 2011, Gaddhafi, who had been the president of Libya for 42 years and deemed as a tyranny for so long by its people, was killed. After his death, rebellions evolved into tears of joy and everything , but it did not last long as matter of fact

He also mentioned how people all across the world mistakenly have been receiving the pieces of information on the issues and things happening in Libya.

Most people outside of Libya can not wise up to what is really going on in Libya. For the most part, media are exaggerating the contents on TV when they broadcast them on air. For instance, it seemed as if those rebellions had defeated and overthrew the tyrant, Gaddafi, but the truth is that 97% of contribution to overthrowing him was made by the international organization whose name is NATO which is dealing with all kinds of security issues taking place in these 23 nations taking part in this organization. Only 3% of it was made by those rebellions you saw on TV

So Let’s get to the point. He told me about the war that just broke out in Libya 2 weeks ago in many words. To get a better understanding about the war, you must know exactly what happened 3 years ago back in 2011 in Libya.

In 2011, People were fired up about overthrowing the tyranny who had been occupying the country, hogging the country and striking down everywhere with his ultimate political power no one could ever resist against. Rebellions took over Benghazi, Mistratah and Tripoli at the end of the war from its government they called “Evil” in the hope of gaining freedom people have been pressuring for more than 40 years. Some people described the tyrant by saying, “He is not the son of evil, but the father of evil“.

They sailed their ship in the uncharted water weathering the storm and successfully navigated themselves to their goal. After the death of Gaddafi, it seemed like everything was smooth sailing. However, they did not let the new government have legal powers to maintain the nation with its military  forces as well as that of police. Therefore, they started stealing people’s belongings, intimidating with guns in their hands, and the nation gradually turned into the nation of mass destruction and deteriorated.

And there they are now.

Each city in Libya has its own militia, which attacks anyone coming from other cities. It is like a guy living in Texas that goes to Florida and gets shot to death just because he is an outsider. Anyway, the reason why they have militias in each city is partly because some armed people who fought in 2011 remained in those cities after the war, and partly because they want to simply protect the citizens in their cities from those armed with rifles and guns coming from other cities.

And this is exactly what is happening now according to this man I was talking to 2 days ago. He has his family back in Libya. He articulated his concern about this ongoing war and bloody battles among same races as well as his family staying there. He also told me about one of his brothers who used to literally fight against the tyranny in the front line back in 2011.

He is not sure when his country is going to come to a peaceful solution.

Here is the video you might want to check out to get to know more about the battle back in 2011.

United States

My name is Trey Cano, I will be writing about life and issues in the United States.

Here is a brief overview of the United States:

The United States has a population of about 330 million people, it is one of the least ethnically homogenous nations in the world, meaning that the population of the United States has a large ethnic variety. The United States was founded upon immigration. The land of America was discovered in 1492 by Christopher Columbus, by the year 1607, England had established its first permanent colony – Jamestown, Virginia. Since then, immigrants from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia and Africa have all moved to America and now call it their home. Depending on where you go in America, you will see people of various ethnicities. Being “American” doesn’t have anything to do with the color of one’s skin, anyone can be American. The language most spoken in America is English, but there is actually no “official language” the American government recognizes. The only true “Americans” are the indigenous tribes that inhabited this land before us, in states such as New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, and Oklahoma, indigenous culture is still very prevalent. Some refer to America as the “cultural melting pot.”

The United States is a democratic government, the real name for our government is a Federal Presidential Constitutional Republic. We have a president, named Barack Obama. In America, every citizen is allowed to vote once you’re over the age of 18 and haven’t committed a felony. We have three branches of government. The Executive branch- which is the President, and other parts of the Office of the President. The Legislative branch- which is the congress, the House and the Senate. And the Judicial branch- which includes the criminal justice system, and the American court system.

Here are other interesting factoids about the United States. You can legally obtain a drivers license at age 16. At age 18, you can buy tobacco products, lottery tickets, gamble, and enlist in the military. The drinking age in America is 21. We drive on the right-hand side of the road. American uses the customary system of measurement, instead of using kilometers and kilograms, we use miles and pounds. America is one of only three countries in the world to use the customary system of measurements. America is very big, it is about 2000 miles in width (about 3200 kilo).
